AMMAN, (PIC)-- The Palestine legal support fund in Britain said it intends to take legal action against Israel in British courts on behalf of the Freedom Flotilla activists who were exposed to a deadly attack on their way to break Gaza siege.

Mary Batayneh, the head of the fund, said Tuesday in a press statement to the French news agency AFP that its organization is coordinating with activists who were illegally detained, assaulted and robbed by Israeli soldiers during their attack on Freedom Flotilla aid convoy.

Batayneh noted that six international lawyers will be responsible for handling all legal proceedings in British courts in the name of the activists.

She affirmed that the aim of this campaign is to defend the rights of all activists and the bereaved Turkish families of the victims who were killed in the attack.

The fund's head pointed out that there will be a campaign this month to raise funds for this legal action, adding that her organization will also establish a database of the victims and provide legal advice for all activists.

The legal support fund of Palestine was founded in 2009 after the Israeli war on Gaza in order to legally support the Palestinian people.

The fund is a British non-governmental organization and has its own advisory board whose members are lawyers, academics, doctors, military experts and human rights monitors.

Batayneh said that the organization’s principles were inspired by the international defense and aid fund for South Africa, which successfully challenged the apartheid regime over 25 years.
