DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Hamas warned de facto Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas and his security apparatuses in the West Bank of handing Qassam leader Ayub Al-Qawasmi to the Israeli occupation authority (IOA).

The movement said in a statement on Saturday that it strongly condemns the detention of Qawasmi, describing his "abduction" as a "national crime".

It said that the detention of the Qassam Brigades leader, 46, who has succeeded in evading IOA arrest for the past 23 years, was a "free service to occupation".

Hamas demanded the immediate release of Qawasmi, holding Abbas personally and his security apparatuses responsible for his safety, warning them of delivering the Mujahid to the IOA under any pretext.

AL-KHALIL, (PIC)-- Abbas’s militia kidnapped on Friday Ayyoub al-Qawasmi (46 years), a commander of the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, in al-Khalil district after 23 years of being on the wanted list for the IOF and Abbas’s militia.

Fatah media sources reported the kidnapping of Qawasmi gloating about the ability of its militia to kidnap the commander after he managed to evade being captured by the IOF and the militia for the past 23 years.

Dr. Salah al-Bardaweel, a Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip, condemned the kidnapping and said this act is a free service provided by the Ramallah security forces to the Israeli occupation.

He added that what makes matters worse is the fact that this kidnapping coincides with the anniversary of the war on Gaza and Ashkenazi’s desecration of Yusuf’s tomb.

He held the Ramallah PA responsible for the life of Qawasmi.

Meanwhile, the Qassam Brigades said in a press statement on Friday that the kidnapping of Qawasmi is yet another proof that Fatah’s militia is run by the occupation and held the PA and its militia fully responsible for the life and safety of Qawasmi.
