In an interview with Al-Manar TV Channel Wednesday, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahmoud Ahmedinejad welcomed the recognition of a Palestinian State “if this was a step towards liberating all of Palestine.”
He clarified that “if establishing a Palestinian state was a step towards liberating the entire land, this would be very good, and from this point we welcome the establishment of a Palestinian State.”

In the same context, President Ahmedinejad assured that “we must not allow the West take control over our region once again”, and called upon the people of this region to be aware of the Western intervention as the latter “never take an action for the sake of God or humanity, but for the sake of money, oil, and political domination.”

Regarding the Syrian situation, the Iranian president assured that “the West’s hope is to wage an assault on Syria similar to that in Libya… the people and the government in Syria should arrange a dialogue in order to reach an agreement on the reforms to be conducted."

In parallel, he assured that “people should have the right for elections, freedom, and justice, and so they should specify a time frame for these issues to be implemented without permitting any western intervention.

Ahmedinejad added, “the Westerns don’t want reforms, they rather want to lead a popular war. They don’t support our people, even more, all our people’s miseries are because of their interventions and because of the the Zionist entity.”
Furthermore, Ahmedinejad warned about undermining the path of the resistance in the region as this would expose everyone to danger, and would reflect negatively on Saudi-Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt.

Besides that, the Iranian President criticized the Saudi Arabian Intervention in Bahrain, asking: “What was the need for Saudi intervention in this issue?”

He called upon “the Saudi Kingdom to consider the Bahraini people a brotherly people,” and added: “The government and the people in Bahrain should sit together and decide their destiny, freedom, and justice, and these are natural issues for the entire world… let them hold talks, live together, and reject America’s intervention.”

Regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran’s relation with Egypt after the revolution, the Iranian president said that “if Egypt and Iran sit together, the Zionist entity and the hegemonic powers will not find a place in the region… if the Arab and Islamic nations unite, there will be no intruder in our region.”

On another level, President Ahmedinejad assured that “there is no regression in the nuclear file, but we are ready to cooperate over the atomic issue.”

He emphasized that “the West should replace their policy of confrontations to the policy of dealing with others.”
