Syrian Army Regains Several Areas in Qusayr, Damascus Countryside

Syrian army continues pursuing foreign-backed militants, as it restores security to number of areas across the crisis-hit country.

Official news agency, SANA, reported that the army forces carried out special operations targeting armed groups’ gatherings across several areas in Homs, al-Qusayr and Damascus countryside.

The agency quoted a military source as saying that “Armed Forces units pursued terrorists in the villages of Kammam, al-Saloumiye, al-Shomariye and al-Rahmuniye in the northern countryside of al-Qusayr, injuring and killing a number of terrorists and destroying their equipment.”

“In the city of Homs, an army unit found equipment that were used in making missiles and explosive devices inside a terrorists' den to the north of the Evangelist Center for Elderly People, according to the source, SANA reported.

In the Eastern Ghouta region of Damascus Countryside, the Syrian army fully controlled the town of al-Utaiba, after it destroyed the hideouts and gatherings of the militants in the town.

Also in Eastern Gouta, SANA said that units of the army killed and injured several militants in al-Aeib farms, Karm al-Rasas, Zamlka and Ein Tarma, “inflicting heavy losses upon them.”

The official news agency also reported that several operations were carried out by the Syrian army in the countryside of Idleb, adding that a number of militants were eliminated.

“A military source told SANA reporter that the army units destroyed dens and gatherings for terrorists affiliated to Nusra Front with the weapons and ammunition inside,” SANA said.

“The terrorists' gatherings were targeted in the areas on al-Janoudiyeh, Ein al-Souda, Maartamsarin, Deir Sunbul, Manaret al-Haskeh, Taftanaz, Maaret al-Numan, al-Nhila, al-Nairab, and Abo al-Duhour,” it added.
