Representatives of the United States government told the Palestinian Authority yesterday that Israel is refusing to stop its attack on the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu said so himself, just hours later, that a ceasefire is “not even on the agenda.”

Israeli Intelligence and Strategic Affairs Minister Yuval Steinitz spoke explicitly on the BBC about Israel’s plans to completely reoccupy Gaza and to keep it under military occupation. The Israeli military is currently amassing tanks and thousands of troops (40,000 reservists were officially called up yesterday) along Gaza’s borders. As Israel ratchets up its airstrikes and threats of an imminent ground invasion become more real by the minute, it is important for us to grasp the true danger of this situation. A ground operation in Gaza will likely kill thousands of Palestinians. During Israel’s two previous smaller operations in Gaza (2008/9 and 2012), The Israeli army  killed approximately 2000 Palestinians, including 500 children.
Although not a single Israeli has been killed by thus far by Palestinian rocket fire, Israel has carried out over 800 air strikes in Gaza over the last three days, killing upwards of 87 people as 0f  Thursday  afternoon.  Half of those killed thus far have been women and children. Israel has completely eliminated 7 families: the father, the mother, the children and all.

Israel has also killed a journalist and injured three first aid providers. The list goes on and on and on… I urge the global community, please do not stay silent. Please, do something to stop this massacre.
