A global petition launched by several Yemeni activists in a bid to try the Saudi regime at the International Criminal Court over Riyadh’s brutal aggression against Yemen.
The petition calls on the ICC to prosecute Al-Saud regime over its unlimited murders against Yemeni civilians.
It points some examples of Saudi Arabia’s crimes against Yemeni civilians, asking the international Criminal Court, to fulfill its duties of addressing crimes of genocide and war crimes and to punish Riyadh.
The activists are seeking to collect significant number of signatures on the petition from people all around the world in a bid to gain the needed recognition to be dealt with in the international Criminal Court.
Yemen has been since March 26, 2015 under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition.
Thousands have been martyred and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians.
Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to fugitive president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.
The global petition cites some statistics carried out by the Legal Center for Human Development till the date of January 19, 2016.
The statistics show that 8143 Yemeni have been killed in air and land attacks including 4628 men, 1519 women and 1996 children.
The aggression has left 15184 people wounded including 11826 men, 1576 women and 1782 children. It has also displaced more than 1200000 Yemenis inside the country and left refugees outside borders due to Saudi attacks, according to the statistics.
The petition meanwhile, noted that the Saudi-led aggression has been targeting hospitals and medical centers, including the UN’s Doctors without borders, and using internationally-banned weapons.
In addition to these acts, the Saudi-led coalition is endangering the lives of Yemenis by total besieging and not allowing the humanitarian aid to get into the country, the petition said, noting to the huge destruction inflicted upon the Yemeni infrastructure.

U.N.S.C. extends sanctions against Yemen’s Ansarullah
(Press TV, 24/2/2016) ~ The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has extended for one year its sanctions against Yemen’s Ansarullah movement amid unabated Saudi aggression on the impoverished country.
The Security Council on Wednesday extended its sanctions on Ansarullah movement and the former president, Ali Abdullah Saleh, until February 26, 2017.
The UNSC also extended the mandate of the Panel of Experts assisting the committee charged with overseeing those measures until March 27, 2017.
The UN Security Council passed a resolution last year targeting the Houthi Ansarullah movement in Yemen.
The council’s imposed sanctions include an arms embargo, asset freezes and travel bans against Abdul Malik al-Houthi, the leader of the movement, Yemen’s former dictator, Ali Abdullah Saleh, and his son Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Two senior Ansarullah leaders, Abdul Khaliq al-Houthi and Abdullah Yahya al-Hakim were also blacklisted by the UNSC.
